I sent my D810 for a repair quote after the lens (nikkor 14-24) became stuck on the body. I was called 4 days working days later and given a parts and labour quote of SGD$1,238.70 to repair both the camera and lens. Take it or leave it. Considering this a little excessive, I returned to collect my camera where I found that it had not been inspected beyond an external visual check. All the replacement parts had been pure guesswork as the lens was still jammed in place. I asked to speak with the technician who generated the quote but was told ‘his hearing is not very good today’, so I should talk with the receptionist (who to her credit was absolutely lovely and professional) I enquired how it could be possible to generate such a detailed (and large) repair quotation without inspecting any of the parts that were due to be replaced. The answer was that they had no idea and we’d find out when they did a detailed inspection. Frankly, it’s a con. I immediately went to Camera Hospital which has numerous glowing reviews and explained the problem to the business owner and technician Steven. He took one look, said “there is no problem” and popped the lens off right in front of me! Needless to say, I was shocked. The lens was simply jammed beyond it’s usual placement on the camera body. With a twist of the wrist and a little pressure in the right place, it was freed. I walked out with my camera repaired free of charge. What an absolute gentleman! As for Nikon, frankly it’s disgusting that they would treat a (heavily invested) customer in this way. I can barely believe the level of malpractice they engage in and I’ll be happy to share my experience directly with Nikon Executives if they feel it’s worth their time to engage with clients at this level.

My favourite place when it comes to all things Nikon, serviced my Nikon gear here and also have some decent Nikon bodies for you to test out, no D5 if that's what you are looking for. Perhaps if you ask nicely? No pushy salesman, just Nikon demo products. They don't sell stuff, only repair stuff here.
