We’ve been wanting to try a bowl of Sukiya Gyudon for a long time but never got any chance until now. We chose to visit this place at 18 Tai Seng on a Saturday afternoon because it’s larger and seems to be less crowded. The gyudon dishes are super good. Tried both the plain dashi-based one and the one with curry sauce. Chicken karaage is surprisingly good as well. The value for money is simply excellent. The bowl with unagi is a bit more pricey but I think it’s worth it. They’ll serve you tea when you arrive and ordering plus payment is done by app using QR code. The staff are friendly and the food is served very quickly. The tables are small but the place is bright and cozy with background music that’s not too loud. For takeaway, there are self-service kiosks for people to place the orders. For gyudon, it will be hard to compete with this chain of restaurants. They have figured out how to maximise value for their customers. We will be a regular from now on.
