Authentic Taiwanese night market restaurant serving traditional street foods like Salted Crispy Chicken, beef stew noodles, and pork floss sandwiches in basement food court setting.
Taiwan Ichiban at 18 Tai Seng Street #B1-07/08/09 brings authentic Taiwanese night market culture to Singapore's commercial district, founded in 1998 by Mdm Lu Su Chen who immigrated from Taiwan with a dream of sharing the vibrant street food traditions of Taiwan's bustling night markets with Singapore's multicultural community. Operating as a comprehensive Taiwanese snack destination, this basement-level establishment serves office workers, food enthusiasts, and nostalgic Taiwanese diners seeking authentic flavors including Salted Crispy Chicken, Tomato Beef Stew Noodle, and Pork Floss & Egg Sandwich that capture the essence of Taiwan's beloved street food culture through traditional preparation methods and imported specialty ingredients.
The restaurant's extensive menu showcases the diversity and creativity of Taiwanese night market cuisine, featuring popular items that represent the island's unique fusion of Chinese, Japanese, and indigenous influences through dishes that emphasize bold flavors, interesting textures, and innovative combinations that have made Taiwanese street food internationally renowned. Customer reviews highlight the restaurant as offering "really tasty" food that's "probably one of the best Taiwanese food at an affordable price," though some diners note that certain dishes can be quite salty, reflecting the intense flavoring traditions common in Taiwanese street food preparations that prioritize bold taste profiles over subtle seasoning approaches.
Strategically located in the basement level of the bustling 18 Tai Seng development with convenient access to Tai Seng MRT station via underground walkway, Taiwan Ichiban serves the substantial population of office workers, students, and Taiwanese cuisine enthusiasts who appreciate having access to authentic night market flavors without traveling to Taiwan. The restaurant's integration with modern delivery platforms like FoodPanda demonstrates their commitment to bringing Taiwanese street food culture to customers throughout Singapore, while maintaining the authentic preparation methods and flavor profiles that made the original Taiwan night markets so captivating. For Singapore's diverse food community, Taiwan Ichiban represents more than just another Asian restaurant—it's a cultural bridge that connects diners to Taiwan's vibrant street food heritage, establishing itself as an essential destination for anyone seeking to understand the creative, flavorful traditions that have made Taiwanese night market culture beloved throughout Asia and increasingly recognized worldwide as one of the region's most distinctive and satisfying street food experiences.
Their Taiwanese beef noodle soup has no taste. It is not worth it for the price. . There are better beef noodle in other place. My order takes a long time as if nobody ordered before. Regretted going there to eat for the first time

Service was good. Food wise could be better. Nevertheless, a good alternative and worth to try.

Why did I spend $7.20 on a non tasty meal
Pork chop was hard and over seasoned
Disappointing

Ridiculously small portion for their new beef braised rice item, charged at a price of $7.80
Usually I’ll eat their chicken cutlet rice/ mee sua, but even the chicken they put in the mee sua is getting lesser. Braised Pork portion also.
Employees looking for lunch can consider going to the few china economic rice stalls opposite 18 Tai Seng, can get better value for money.
Another ridiculous company trying to downsize portion and charge you the same price back when it first opened. I’d give this chain zero stars if I could.

After waiting for an hour, the food was cold when it arrived. But the taste was acceptable. Halfway through the meal, a hair was found in it. I lost my appetite completely.

Tasty braised pork rice, portion a bit small but for the price of $6.8 I think it’s okay. Self service soup is available too.

$6.80 braised pork rice
Decent but maybe not that value for money.
Free flow soup (self serve)

Asked me if I wanted chilli today. I was surprised they even bothered to ask. I said no. And it's there anyway. Again.
This is so hard for people with food sensitivities and allergies. Nobody is taking ownership or responsibility. This is why retail and customer service is so bad in Singapore and never changes even after all these years. All the SkillsFuture or retraining hasn't change anything.
Food is tasteless, and meat is very hard and not fresh like the other reviewers said. Don't bother to go back!

Decent food for decent price. XL fried chicken was quite ok. Oyster mee sua acceptable. Braised pork rice nice but pork was fattier than average. All in decent, probably will return periodically if around the area
